James update: This is officially week 1 of 12. Last week was called Receiving Week.
- Yesterday they were issued their M16s. I would think that’s a very happy young man, if an M16 is what I’m thinking it is.
- Today is 4x-400M intervals and SAPR1 class. Your guess is as good as mine as to what all that is.
- I should get his address today.

Today I have an anointing of hyper-productivity that I would like to impart to you. Even though my sleep was interrupted, I woke up early and immediately sprung to action. 20 minutes into my morning, I noticed I was in hyperdrive. I was managing three projects that had landed on my lap and it was going incredibly smoothly.
Project #1: A friend Pete had offered me help if I ever needed it and I’d taken them up him on it weeks ago. We’d set a date for this morning. He arrived early and I showed him the 2 projects that were overwhelming me.
- lay a border on my garden
- install steps from my porch to the yard (my current setup was precarious)
We brainstormed the steps, and I got the idea to call my crazy (and awesome) neighbor JD, a landscaper, and see what he had on hand. He answered his phone though he was at work and invited me to go to his place and help myself to whatever I needed. He even offered his gator to transport the stones to my house. We walked around the property, looked at our options, found just what we needed, loaded them up, the gator died, we prayed her back to life, and the project was underway. Pete is a professional mason and amazing worker who’s currently off work. I was working with the best. (Text me if you’re in the area and in need of an amazing worker.)
Project #2: A gift I received from my dad was in terrible disrepair from years of neglect. It was weighing heavy on my conscious and my hands were tied on so many levels. Suddenly my nephew Rob arose to help me. He is the ultimate project manager and has been an absolute godsend with his superior tech and problem-solving skills. He reminds me so much of dad with his ‘can do’ attitude and his resourcefulness. I’m so grateful. No sooner did I have Pete laid out with his project, I got a call from Rob. We had a ten-minute conversation for an update and further planning, energized each other, gave love, and I had to take the next call.
Project #3: I haven’t blogged in a really long time and God was telling me it’s time to revive the ole’ blog. Last week, which was week 1 of the challenge, I realized I was very rusty. Additionally, I was using an unfamiliar platform. I’ve been playing phone tag with my web-designer Joe who is in a time-zone 12 hours ahead and all week, it was proving difficult to connect. I almost put off the challenge till I had the kinks ironed out but decided to press through with what I had – because, as I shared last week, I believe that “done beats perfect.” As soon as I hung up with Rob from Project #2, Joe and I connected via text. I threw him a Zoom link, and we troubleshooted (I thought the word would be ‘troubleshot’ but I stand autocorrected.) Within 7 minutes, he’d figured out what he needed to do to make this easier for me and for you guys to access the blog. (Contact me if you need an amazing web guy.)
Project #4: Get today’s blog posted and shared.
Project #5: Today is the funeral of the husband of my dear friend Jessica who died at the young age of 45. I was in line to help with food setup. Last night she asked if I would read the eulogy and I told her I was honored.
Project #6: Bible study tonight. I’m creating a phenomenal study called ‘The Gift of Sabbath: God’s great plan or rest and renewal in a maxed-out world.’ I teach that on Tuesday nights so after the funeral, I’ll come home, nap, and create handouts for tonight. It’s not even 10am and I feel like I’ve gotten 8 hours’ worth of work done.
CTA:
- Contemplate and comment on any 2 principles you can mine from the description of my morning above that are the building blocks for hyper-productivity? I’ll address your responses in tomorrow’s blog as we dip our toes into the life-changing concept of ‘Self-Leadership.’
- Share this blog with 3 people (we can easily reach 90,000 people); talk about the concept of hyper-productivity with 2 people; leave 1 comment.
Many of us are clear minded in the morning.
So rewarding when things go well. Much of this for me is that I’m fresh and mind is clearer.
A wise person said, “the morning knows much that the afternoon knows nothing about.” So true. I wish I was more consistently a morning person. I will make that a goal at some point.
I see the following principles:
– leverage your resources
– done beats perfect
– trust others to do their good work
I love how you phrased the last principle. It highlights the underlying principle that we surround ourselves with people who value excellence and that’s why God has brought them into our life and us into theirs. Rich synergy ensues! What do these principles look like in your life right now, Suzi?
